Promoting Healthy Beverage Options
The Healthy Beverage Partnership (HBP) is a collaborative of health departments and community partners working together to reduce the prevalence of chronic diseases and address health inequities by supporting municipal level sugary drink reduction policies across the state of Colorado. HBP's primary objectives are: 1) decreasing deceptive sugary drink marketing in public spaces and restaurants, 2) decreasing targeted availability of harmful sugary drinks to children, especially children of color and 3) improving healthy norms and options for all families. This is a unique regional partnership in Colorado focused on sugary drink education and policy strategies to reduce sugary drink consumption and chronic diseases. Sugary drink consumption increases the risk of preventable and costly short and longterm health issues, such as type II diabetes, cancer, fatty liver, asthma, cavities, and heart disease.
